Ready for the Big Show

The countdown has begun. The 147th Annual Convention of the National Rifle Association begins Thursday at 2 pm at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas.

Here's how I plan to be present and available at this year's Convention:

Beginning at 2 pm on Thursday, I will spend much of my time at the Faith Forward Dallas Prayer Vigil at the Dallas City Hall Plaza, during which I will be in prayer with faith leaders and clergy from around the city.

Members and staff of Kessler Park United Methodist Church will join me for a special prayer service at Dallas City Hall Plaza on Thursday at 7 pm. All are welcome to attend.

On Friday, I plan to spend time in the Exhibit Hall, as well as attend the NRA-ILA Leadership Forum at noon which Trump, Pence, Abbott, Cornyn, and Cruz will supposedly all attend.

On Saturday, I will attend the NRA Annual Meeting of Members at 10 am, where I will cast a vote for the 76th Director to the NRA Board. I also plan to participate in the protests and marches that will be taking place outside the convention center.

And on Sunday morning at 7 am, I'll be dining at the Prayer Breakfast at the Omni Hotel. I'll rush back to Oak Cliff for worship and Sunday School at the regular times, then head back over to the Convention Center later that evening for a closing prayer service led by Bishop Mike McKee at 5 pm. Again, all are welcome to attend.

During all of these events, I plan to be blogging, tweeting, and Instagramming. Please follow me for up-to-the-minute reports on what is happening in Dallas!

Most of all, be in prayer for everyone in Dallas. These are high-stakes events playing out in the city and nation.
